Best parenting advice
A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. Proverbs 10:1
Hello it's Kelly Korner time! Today she asks what is your best parenting advice???
I've told my kids from a early age, "If you tell me the truth, I will not get mad, but if you lie to me, then I'll be angry." I always want my four to feel like they can tell me ANYTHING, with no shame, there is nothing that will make me love them less. I let them know that I'll help them through anything, with God's help, I'll point out what it is that's wrong, and we'll try to fix it. But when untruth and deceit are present, it's another story! I see parents that are blind to many things, and have no clue what's really going on till it's to late. Alot of the time their children are too afraid to tell them the truth. Just yesterday there was an incident, where I knew the truth but wanted to hear it from my child's mouth. So I said, "tell momma the truth," she said, no I'll get in trouble." I told her you'll get in trouble if you don't tell me! She finally told me, and we prayed through it, she felt so much better with it off her chest! I'm not saying there aren't consequences when disobedience, or sin, is involved, of course you reap what you sew.

On another note, we are already having a great time in Bishop, Sage had two of her cousins and one friend spend the night. Today we are heading to Grant Lake with my in-laws, they park their motor home at the lake all summer, with their boat. Can't wait I LOVE lake swimming, just hope I can handle the ice cold water that comes with it! Have a blessed day, Shirley
Here's a shot of Sage, Sadie, Chloe with two of their cousins, and the horse Angel! The girl's are going riding Monday!

Very well put. What do you do for punishment though? Just curious. :) Enjoy your Bishop stay. :)
ReplyDeleteWhen the kids are little we do spank, but each kid is different. So spanking can work well for one and be devastating for Another? But always in love and kind words, I know mine don't learn if it's just yelling, spanking, there has to be teaching.
