Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; Act:3:19

So excited the kids and I are going on a overnight adventure! I'll be pulling them out early from school. The house is bustling with kids, breakfast, you can feel the excitement in the air. They get to go visit their much missed friends!
Bubba, Chloe and I went on a quick walk yesterday after school, it felt so good being outside, hearing the waves, feeling the fresh, crisp air, Gods work is perfect:)
I'm really trying to make a even bigger effort in spending as much time, effort with my kids, I love them so much. They are the best gifts I've ever received.
OK time to fix Sage's hair, dress a American doll, make snacks for our trip! Blessings Shirley

Upholstered head boards

Blessed is the man who fears theLord, who delights greatly in His commandments. —Psalm 112:1

Yeah the little girls headboards are finally finished! I'm falling in love with upholstery it's very rewarding. Even though all my fingers are either burned, or calloused I'd do it again. John's been in New York so I did this one all by my self. First I measured the beds, bought cheap ply board at Home-Depot, then 3 inch foam from Joann's, fabric, on clearance, batting, upholstery button kit, upholstery string, an upholstery needle, staples for my staple gun, and I was good to go!
Each bed needed 21 buttons,
I gridded out the foam decided where each button goes, I then glued the foam to ply board,  stapled the batting down.
Now cutting the foam out is tricky, last time we used pipe, this time I used a knife. Where each hole is next you drill out a hole for the buttons to go through.
From the back of the board I used a scourer, to poke a hole through the fabric, then with an upholstery needle string the button through, and staple it tight to the back. Sorry I didn't use pictures step by step, I tend to start and plow right through!
This time I decided to do the diamond tuft, I love the elegance of it.

Hope you enjoyed, now time to start on Sage's huge head board, this one I need John for!
Time to get a workout in, I've been truly shocked at how fast my day's fly. I'm pleading with God to slow it down, I want to enjoy each day. Once I start a project, I feel a little guilty, like I don't give my all to the kids, so last night I had the kids come into the garage and talk to me, play, laugh. I felt less guilty. Then I cuddled with little girls in my bed read them stories till they fell asleep. Tucked Little John in by reading out of Psalms. Then kissed, hugged Sage goodnight while she was doing homework. Listening to a radio program while driving for the 9th time Tuesday, I heard someone state, parents, spend your time wisely while your children are in your home, before you know it they will be off, living their own life, and you'll never get that time back! This really convicted me, I decided to really limit my time on my phone, projects, reading, I need to invest into my children, listen to them, teach them, and most of all let them know I am here for them, no matter what. I'll drop anything, anytime, when they need me. May the God of Love be with you today, Shirley

Lil John's room, DONE!

May the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you. —1 Thessalonians 3:12

Time to myself three1/2 hours to be exact! I'm finishing up touches on little Johns room, Awe love the way it turned out so masculine! I used Sage's bed, and rug. I surprised John when he got home from school, he was so pleased with the out come, he really is a man's, man, and was Leary about momma wanting to "decorate" his room. I kept hearing it's fine the way it is!! But once completed he loves it.
The British flag I bought at the swap meet, in the shadow boxes I found for such a great price!
Sneak peek at the little girls head boards.
Sooo now Sage's room is all torn apart, she inherited Bubba's big bed, I'm reupholstering that now, bought the fabric last night at Joann's, with a great 60% off coupon! She wants color!!!! I'm such a monochromatic person, so I'm scared and excited about this new scheme. She's over being boring, she wants to brake out of mommas control, and put her personality into it! I like that!
Found this great throw at World Market, her room is going to be all about layering!
 She want's Morrocan Style Bedding.....

Give thanks 2012

Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good. His love endures forever. Psalms 136:1

Our Thanksgiving 2012!
Well it started with a super busy Friday trying to get everything done in order to hit the road in time, before traffic, on our way to Bishop. First off getting kids off to school, then I had two appointments, Little John stayed home, he had a super easy day at school, so John and I let him start his vacation a day early:) After my appointments we dashed to Sadie's Jog-a-thon, just in time, Bubba ran onto the field and surprised her, I loved watching this scene take place, Sadie was running with all her might, she looked up to see her big brother running next to her, she squealed with delight! So cute...

Then Bubs and I made a mad dash to Chloe's Thanksgiving party at her pre-school, I regret to say I missed the singing part:((( I couldn't  really think about it to much it broke my heart! But she said, "It's OK mom, I didn't even sing loud, I was too shy!" Kinda made me feel less guilty.

Finally we hit the road, but we didn't escape traffic, a 6 hour drive took, 8!!!!
I made some rounds trying to visit relatives, but I didn't get to see many, Christmas for sure.
Holding one of my newest cousins!
I was happy I got to visit with my aunt, and cousin Reese, and of course baby Harper, thanks for all the prayers for baby, she was born prematurely, but God heard our prayers, and today she is doing so amazing!
Then dinner at my in-laws, Thanks Cindy, you always out do your self, the ambiance, food, company was wonderful.
So bummed this is the only picture I got from my time with Brenda, Me trying out her rowing machine!
We always incorporate exercise into our lives, so bubba and his friend Raymond, worked out
Kids having breakfast at grandma/papa's, they asked Mom why does breakfast taste better here??
It was a fast trip, on the way out we met my dad, and uncle Stan at the airport, to meet the Christian Pilots to deliver gift to the Reservation children, such a great organization!
 Bye Bishop, till next time!
Jim flew in the next Wednesday, of course all the kids go crazy over him! Now Luke is in on it too!
I was so busy cooking and cleaning, we hosted Thanksgiving at our house, this year, John and my momma, were so great with cooking, helping. My girls getting our Bingo game together
My cousin, and uncle made it down, here is baby Feather
So wish I would have taken more pictures, but lately it seems life is going soo fast, I'm barley keeping up!
Uncle Ted and his mother in-law

Auntie Rachel and Luke, one day this girl is going to be the best momma, she always makes sure all her nieces and nephews are comfy, fed, loved, and played with.
Momma and I escaped to get our nails done, something we both love to do!
And here he is the worlds best daddy, and papa, he loves to take his grand kids around, he's so proud of them, before he left, he told me how proud he is of me, and thanked me for making his life complete by blessing him with grand kids:) so sweet.
Of course we had to make it to the beach at least once!

Love this shot, the little girls were watching a girl do yoga poses on the beach, and they were trying their hardest to copy her!
We hauled our fire pit to the beach, and got cozy
Do ya blame me... I have a brother who can build, hospitals, schools, why wouldn't I want to enlist a little help with my pitiful  projects??
I'm in the process of making the girls headboards, I needed help
We met Johnny and Rachel for dinner and church last night in San Diego, we walked past a fountain, and I had a light bulb moment, this is the same fountain I took a picture with my girls at, right after Johnny and Rachel married at the court house
3years earlier, time fly's
We went to the Rock church, it was fantastic!!! So fun to worship, with my family! Wish Jenny and my parents were with us.

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving, try really hard to take in the moments, they go just as fast as they come! Love you all, Shirley
P.S, Here is my heart God, you can have it all!

Tribal lumbar pillow

The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious. —Exodus 34:6

I couldn't pass up this cool tribal fabric, from the Pasadena Swap meet, I scored for $20
I originally was going to make two euro pillows from it. But then realized that I've been wanting a long lumbar pillow for my yellow couch. The depth is very deep, so if you sit on this couch it swallows you up! I decided to use my new fabric for the lumbar pillow. But dilemma... I didn't have a lumbar!! After looking online, I found it was way to pricey! Walking into the garage I remembered I had a stock pile of 24inch, down filled pillows.

Soo, I told Sadie quick go get momma a pair of scissors and two trash bags. I cut open the pillows and pulled out all the feathers, I now have feathers everywhere!! In my eye's, lungs, and nostrils!
I sewed three cases together, dumped all the feathers into the bags
Then restuffed, sewed the pillow cases together, and added a long zipper, I love the way it turned out:) This was the easiest, fastest, innovative pillow I've ever made
Have to add my little Pilgrim to the blog post, she had a fun Thanksgiving party at school. Also I signed into the school as a guest, the receptionist said, "Are you Sadie's mom, you look just like her! Oh she lost a tooth today!"
Anytime Sadie can show her little sister off, she will!
