New york trip
Hello from the Big Apple!! Today after John's many meetings, we went down town. Wow what an amazing city!! I feel like you could live here a lifetime and not see the whole city! So I'm going to try in three days! We ate and walked, window shopped, people watched, ate again, walked more, shopped more! Super fun, we are missing the kiddies but know that the kids are having a great time with grandma!!
My two best friends! John, and my latte! JK
In the Chicago airport, we ended up stranded there for over four hours!!!!
On our way to Manhattan!
My first glimpse!!!!
Some touristy places
We had to go into Dylan's candy shop, and get our sugar baby, Chloe a little treat!
We got a prime spot at a great restaurant, great people watching!!
What Chloe's dreams might look like???
Oprah's favorite candy
Many years ago I watched Regis and Kelly, this cute restaurant was featured, the desert is out of this world!!!
Our yummy frozen chocolate!!! We both felt dizzy, after all this sugar!!
All done!
Times square is nuts, people everywhere, camera flashes going off! I can only handle so much of this, I like the more quiet, pretty places!
So tomorrow we are getting an early start on the city, Central Park, we are going to do the horse ride, top of the Empire State Building, American Indian Museum, Then Met, and maybe more?? We will need a good foot massage after all this walking! God bless, stayed tuned it's just beginning!! Oh yeah one more thing, tonight I received two emails, from two different stores wanting to carry my driftwood mirrors and chandeliers!! God is good!! Shirley
Day 2
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Getting really home sick! Missing my babies sooo bad, thinking of bumping up my flight?? My feet are sore, my heart is heavy, so well see! Other than that yesterday was great we seen so much and walked even more. New Yorkers LOVE their city! They get so excited to share it with people, they literally light up when you tell them it's your first time here. I met John at a restaurant after one of his meetings, his employee and his girlfriend, were both raised here, so they showed us around.
Yesterday we went to Ground Zero, it's amazing to see in real life, tons of construction going on, many tourists taking pictures. It's hard to imaging the horror of that day!
The Financial District just like the movies, business people all around, all in a mad rush!!
We were just walking no clue where we were, or where we were headed, just trying to look busy! Then all of a sudden I get a glimpse, and I shout out, "Oh there she is!!" John said who?? I said our Lady of Liberty!! He said, "who", I then had to point her out, we went to get a closer look!
Amazing, this almost made me cry, she's really beautiful
Then I ask a officer do you know where the Natural Museum of the American Indian is, she laughed and pointed right behind me! Perfect, two items off my list in one shot!
The photos were amazing!!
On a wall they have a list of all known tribes names, I found mine!!!
And many others that are around my area.
Even a few of my Great Grandmothers, and Aunts baskets were on display there! If they only could see this!
Beautiful garment made from Canadian Indians
Had an amazing salad at Dean and Deluca, fun location, to people watch!!
Ok so it's no secret I LOVE Italy, have I been there no, but I know that once I go it will be a struggle to get me home!! So to Little Italy we went, oh my goodness! I could have spent the whole time there and been sooo happy, I'm telling you the air even seemed different! We ate at this cute little place, the best Italian food ever, the owner a beautiful older women, she sat outside and coaxed people in, she was a character, full of life, she made my experience so much more rich!
We finished up paid the bill, and a white limo was right there, he asked if we needed a ride to our hotel, we jumped in.
OK time to go, talk soon, Shirley
Day 3
The vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter; so he made it again into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter. Jeremiah 18:4
Sitting in the airport getting ready for take off, can't wait to see the kids!! Our last day in New York was great, I tried to cram as much as possible!! I went early by myself to the fashion district where I bought Sage and John some school clothes. Great prices, great stores!! I restrained my self from shopping for me, and focused on the kids. Next time!! I then took the subway to Central Park, I must say this was one of my favorite spots in New York! The scenery is just glorious, the park is layed out so beautifully. I soo wanted to jog, or ride a bike through, but no time! John met me there, we then walked all the way to 5th avenue, to the MET. Gelato at Central Park, can't be beat!!
On the way to the MET we sat and admired the Plaza Hotel, this is where Eloise the cartoon character that my girls love, "lives"!! Lucky girl!
The Plaza
Finally we made it to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, mind blowing, so much to see, we needed about three more hours there!
The Roman Area is so fascinating, they used marble, and stone in many of their art, furniture, buildings, built to last a lifetime and beyond! We were so impressed there were marble bathtubs built in the 2nd and third century that looked brand-new!!
I blurred a young Hercules privates out, the Romans were obsessed with the body!! Amazing!
A beautiful Chumash drying basket, the weave is sooo tight.
We noticed many well dressed people loading into a elevator, curious I walked over and asked the elevator attendant, "Where are they all going?" He said, "To the top, and you must go!" He held open the door for us, but a rushed Manhattan ran inside and closed the door before you could say hey!! The elevator man got mad, then noticed our demeanor was cool, he said, "OK where you from, California?" I laughed and said, "Yep how did you know," he said, "because you guys are all laid back, always smiling not like us!!!"
Vincent Van Gogh's paintings, are beautiful, with so much detail, he's one of my favorites out of the Masters.
