Homeschool

Giving thanks always for all things. —Ephesians 5:20

A few weeks ago John and Sage came to me, asking to be home schooled. They both were looking for more out of life, more time, more living. John and I looked into different programs, and found one through our local high school, same curriculum , same schedule, benefit is two full time teachers on staff, to go over work, answer questions, and  do labs with them, so for us it was thee best decision. We love having the kids around more, and love being able to teach, and learn with them. it's only been our first week, but let me say it's been so great! The little girls will keep going to public school, for the time being so we can focus on the big kids schooling.

New rug I bought for a steep discount!
Part of our new program is twice a week Sage, and John will pick a activity for us to do. This week Sage chose a hike to potato chip point….. Ok sounded fun, but wow!!! 7.2, miles 4 hours later, we were so spent! Poor Sage she had beach volleyball for  2 hours right after, and then 2 hours of indoor volleyball, she earned all two weeks of P.E, credit in one day!
I know I brag about my son, a lot! But I have good reason, he is such a sweety, so kind, gentle, Sage and I were so blessed to see him being himself, fully. Laughing, cracking jokes, talking non stop, while we were just trying to catch our breath!

When the little girls get home, I make it a point  to spend time, doing their homework, baking, swimming, or jumping o the trampoline with them. It's all about balance, trying my hardest to make all my kids feel special. Makes me smile at how much I love each one of them, and how much more our Heavenly Father loves all of His children
Ok time to get the house done, Sadie has a performance about respect today at school. Love you Shirley

Steel doors, and friends

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

So John and I have busted our tails with the inside of the house, still some things that need done, like interior doors, and a couple bathrooms that need updating. But our main concern is framing in a room in the garage for little John, then the outside of the house needs a major overhaul. John hated the curb appeal from the get go but we both saw the finish product. So hopefully soon, well start can't wait to document it here on the blog.
One thing on my list is steel black french doors and windows. I need 5 sets of french doors, and 6 windows. The front deck has to be replaced, it's rotten and ready to collapse .
 Awe aren't they just gorgeous
In the front of the house were going to make a huge wall window floor to ceiling

Gotta mix some old wood with, to make something beautiful
On another note, theses two sweeties came all the way from Camarillo to visit me! We missed two years of our birthday tradition of doing a girls day on our birthdays, so it was so fun to catch up and spend the day together. They arrived early in the morning, so we went to breakfast, then a long walk on the beach (Kim's calves, may or may not be extremely sore:) then off to a awesome tea place, final destination Ikea, for Jule, to shop till she dropped! Then they left, miss them, and so thankful for their friendship!
And God's perfect timing we ran into my sister in the village, she was on a walk. Wish she could have spent the day with us!
Ok time to go, love Shirley

My birthday

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. Psalms 139:13

Yesterday the 15th I turned 34! Time is flying, I'm just trying to catch up…..Thanks to everyone who sent a text, called, or sent a card, also Facebook friends, I felt extremely special, blessed yesterday. Rachel and I went on a morning hike, didn't take any pictures I should have! We laughed, talked, sweated, and just had great sister time. Then we met John and Chloe in the village for lunch/coffee.
After picking up the rest of the kids, I dropped them all off and went and pampered myself with a pedicure and a hour massage. Felt soo wonderful.
John took the kids shopping for me, and to gather all the ingredients for my coconut (paleo) cake, made with coconut flour, 10 eggs, it was heaven on earth! Sage decorated it, we all enjoyed it.
Little John having coffee with his momma, he's so handsome, sweet, some lucky girl (one day) will be so blessed to have this guy!
We've been having beautiful weather, in the 80's, so off to the beach two day's in a row.

Again thanks to all who made my day so special, I felt like a kid all day, spoiled, loved, and cherished.
Capped off the night with my favorite Thai food!
Be blessed today, Shirley

I'm on the BBC!!

Click to hear Me on the BBC breakfast radio program! They called last Wednesday and asked if I'd be there mystery guest, to talk about my book Text-tionary. The call was our time 12:30 A.M, their time 9:30 A.M, I was sooo nervous/excited/exhausted, The Host Chris Evans didn't know who the guest would be, so we had 3 minutes for a quick interview, he completely stumped me at the end, asking me to de-code, 2bz4uqt, meaning too busy for you cutie! Otherwise even though my heart was pounding out of my chest and I had extreme dry mouth I thought I did OK……..:)

Christmas 2013

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6

Christmas 2013

John and the girls made a ginger bread mini mansion. They had a lot of fun designing, decorating it.
The girls wanted hot chocolate every day while on Christmas break, so to make things easy I made a hot chocolate station.
Jim flew in to town, first Christmas in a long time it was just some of the family, the rest were in Bishop, we enjoyed staying home this year, not taking two cars full of presents, a dog in a dog crate, then packing all the same presents back home.
 Last minute shopping
Big kids trying to ditch us
 Coco enjoying frozen yogurt
 Christmas morning
 Grandparents spoiled the kids

 Thanks auntie
Thanks Grandma Cindy, she loves her easy bake
 And her iron
So patient while I took down the tree, organized a thousand toys, Jim sat and baked with girls
Then you think I could let him leave without a project??? He put up some much needed hooks, love them thanks
The big kids took a roady to visit friends, I cried watching them drive off, wow can't believe how mature, sweet these two are, one day it's gonna be super lonely without them:((
Things are back on schedule school, Johns work load, and my duties. Love you, Shirley
