Passover/Grandma

It is finished! —John 19:30
Last night (Passover) what a powerful, meaningful, event. I attended a Maundy church service. From the moment I entered the church, I quietly wept. His spirit was so present, I literally felt it. What a beautiful service. After I was touched for over an hour still weeping. It's good to remember how He suffered, was beaten, crucified for us. Whether you believe or not, a man laying down his life for another is something to admire. I'm not sure I could do the same.  Today marks the day that Jesus is humiliated, forced to carry his own cross, to his death. What a dark day that was for many. Just think the people who actually were healed, set free form chains, for the first time in many's lives they had hope, joy, peace, all from a man named Jesus. Watching Him, a humble, loving Savior being tortured, abused, then killed. But there was hope!! On the third day he appeared to them.. Telling them to go and spread the news. And here we are today 2,000 years later, still spreading then good news! Jesus Lives!

Grandma Cindy, John's mom came for a visit. What a blessing that was, the kids were happy to spend time with Grandma.

 Cindy makes such tasty food!
 Grandma spoiled the kids!
Chloe said, "mom I'm going to be a baker someday, but I want to be a mom as well, how can I do both!" So cute she's only 4 and already the problem many of us mommies face! I told her well if you live by momma and dad, we'll help you when you work with the kids! LOL

Sadie's just taking off with her art skills, have to tell about what she's been up to. For Christmas I gave her a devotion book. Well thee last four days completely on her she's made it a point to listen to her favorite worship song, then read her devotion, then getting on her little knees before God, and praying. So proud of my Sadie, I told the older kids take note.....
Hours of fun
Nice sunny day at the village fountain

Food for thought

You have to read, can't believe what is happening in our country our grandparents would be extremely disappointed in what we are becoming.

Food For Thought

If you can get arrested for hunting or fishing without a license, but not for being in the country illegally ...you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to get your parents’ permission to go on a field trip or take an aspirin in school, but not to get an abortion ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the only school curriculum allowed to explain how we got here is evolution, but the government stops a $15 million construction project to keep a rare spider from evolving to extinction ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If you have to show identification to board an airplane, cash a check, buy liquor or check out a library book, but not to vote who runs the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government wants to ban stable, law-abiding citizens from owning gun magazines with more than ten rounds, but gives 20 F-16 fighter jets to the crazy new leaders in Egypt ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If, in the largest city, you can buy two 16-ounce sodas, but not a 24-ounce soda because 24-ounces of a sugary drink might make you fat ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If an 80-year-old woman can be stripped searched by the TSA but a woman in a hijab is only subject to having her neck and head searched ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If your government believes that the best way to eradicate trillions of dollars of debt is to spend trillions more ...you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If a seven year old boy can be thrown out of school for saying his teacher is "cute," but hosting a sexual exploration or diversity class in grade school is perfectly acceptable ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If children are forcibly removed from parents who discipline them with spankings while children of addicts are left in filth and drug infested “homes”... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If hard work and success are met with higher taxes and more government intrusion, while not working is rewarded with EBT cards, WIC checks, Medicaid, subsidized housing and free cell phones ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If the government's plan for getting people back to work is to incentivize NOT working with 99 weeks of unemployment checks and no requirement to prove they applied but can’t find work ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

If being stripped of the ability to defend yourself makes you more "safe" according to the government ... you might live in a country founded by geniuses but run by idiots.

I don't agree with the word "idiots", but makes you think!

Visit

[Jesus] was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. —Matthew 9:36

Hello, wow coming up for air!  So much going on around here. Chloe's at pre-school, so I have 31/2 hours to get laundry, workout, and a quick bank stop. So I'm attempting to complete a quick blog. I want to do a tutorial on the linen ottoman and I will, just not yet. Life keeps flying and I'm behind, trying to my best to keep up.
Love spending time with Papa and Grandma
Who needs T.V. or any other entertainment when you have two cute little girls!!! I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! The girls made us do a talent show, Uncle Jim (a weird seal like clapping sound) Papa ( his famous knee crossing dance), Grandma ( imitating a old friends way of fishing) Momma (forfeited). Girls took this very serious I couldn't even catch my breath, laughing soo hard. Grandma won first place, uncle second, and Papa got the "weirdest" according to Chloe.
Papa gave Sadie a very special case

 Saying our goodbyes, never easy!!!

Such a man, Little John is growing so fast, he drives his ol momma everywhere, so sweet, he helped me take care of business yesterday, I bought a new couch. He was right there loading into dad's truck, strapping it down. I told him someday a girls gonna be so lucky to have you!
 Onto a new project
Check below for a complete tutorial on Linen Ottoman, and a new hutch below..... Shirley

White Hutch/Linen Ottoman

I was in a design rut for months, well clearly not anymore.....
We may be re-doing a kitchen soon! So my brain is on overdrive I've always wanted a chicken wire, white hutch incorporated into my kitchen cabinet's. Waiting for the handles when I decide on the ones for the whole kitchen.
I found this on craigslist last week, offered $150, it was the perfect dimensions.

Thank God for my big bro, who helps me. We cut out the panels to make space for the chicken wire
I really took my time painting the hutch, it took me three day's, I did three coats, then sprayed the whole thing with a matte polyurethane to protect it from nicks.
I spray painted the chicken wire I bought from Home depot for $7.00 black. This took a few days as well, I had to make sure I got paint in all the nooks and crannies.
All the hinges sprayed flat black as well
After cutting out the panels I was left with gaping holes, so I patched then sanded
This stuff is the best, super light and airy
 My little helper
Now about the ottoman

$40 craigslist, I stained the legs a darker ebony
I bought a play board from home depot, always take your measurements and have them cut at store. Then for the expensive part, the foam, I buy mine at Joann's and use the 50% off coupon
Three things you'll need a upholstery needle, upholstery buttons, and upholstery string
I bought my linen from Joann's
Oh yeah batting, it's super cheap buy enough to wrap around the foam

Hope your inspired, I just love to see something that costs hundreds, and recreate for much less. So much more rewarding! Shirley

Linen Tufted Ottoman

God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. —Philippians 4:19

Latest tufted ottoman. I scored a coffee table on craigslist for $40. I  love the legs, just needed a little ebony stain, and a new linen tufted top!
Making a cushion top for a table is very easy, once you learn the steps. I don't have time to give all the steps now, I'll do that later.
 Coffee table has great bones
 Making the top
A shot of the velvet one I made a few months ago. It's holding up well, we use it everyday, feet, magazines, food, an occasional concert on top of it.
Sorry I've been MIA lately just really busy. Kids keeping me on my toes, less computer time. Still in the process of making a huge decision, well know by next week, if it's meant to be, can't wait to share... Shirley
