Grant Lake

A wise woman builds her home, but a foolish woman tears it down with her own hands. Proverbs 14:1

Hello from Bishop, time is going way too fast already! John always says isn't a week enough time in Bishop for you?? My answer is always it's never enough time! That's how I truly feel. I love it here so much, the beauty, nature, family, it's what my spirit needs... Yesterday we went to Grant Lake with John and Cindy, my in-laws, we had a blast! Papa took us on the boat, the girls were smiling the whole time! We set anchor and jumped in, I was right, the water was freezing, but so refreshing!!
This is Cindy's Jeep! The kids all wanted to ride up to the lake with their (cool) grandma, instead of their square momma!
It's soo amazing, I was blown away at God's creation once again!
Don't interrupt in deep though!
Such a beauty Sage

Grandma was so happy to spend time with her grand kids
Papa was making turns, going fast, the girls loved every second
And of course miss fashion wanted this towel tied around her head!

Aunt Jenny is such a great, caring, auntie
These two had a dock fight, they were trying to throw each other in the water

 Coco had so much fun
I love when these two have no friends around and have to play with each other
 Grandma teaching the kids Yotzy
With in minutes these two were out!!!
Sadie with our dog Sphene we keep him in Bishop.
Uncle Jim got here late last night, the girls ran and sat in his lap this morning, they both love him sooo much! He lets them walk on grandmas ceiling, he used to do this with Sage and John but of course he couldn't even attempt to lift them now!
Time to help Jim with the pool, I can hear the drill going. The big kids are still at the lake with their grandparents, coming home tomorrow. God bless, Shirley

Best parenting advice

A wise child brings joy to a father; a foolish child brings grief to a mother. Proverbs 10:1

Hello it's Kelly Korner time! Today she asks what is your best parenting advice???
I've told my kids from a early age, "If you tell me the truth, I will not get mad, but if you lie to me, then I'll be angry." I always want my four to feel like they can tell me ANYTHING, with no shame, there is nothing that will make me love them less. I let them know that I'll help them through anything, with God's help, I'll point out what it is that's wrong, and we'll try to fix it. But when untruth and deceit are present, it's another story! I see parents that are blind to many things, and have no clue what's really going on till it's to late. Alot of the time their children are too afraid to tell them the truth. Just yesterday there was an incident, where I knew the truth but wanted to hear it from my child's mouth. So I said, "tell momma the truth," she said, no I'll get in trouble." I told her you'll get in trouble if you don't tell me! She finally told me, and we prayed through it, she felt so much better with it off her chest! I'm not saying there aren't consequences when disobedience, or sin, is involved, of course you reap what you sew.

On another note, we are already having a great time in Bishop, Sage had two of her cousins and one friend spend the night. Today we are heading to Grant Lake with my in-laws, they park their motor home at the lake all summer, with their boat. Can't wait I LOVE lake swimming, just hope I can handle the ice cold water that comes with it! Have a blessed day, Shirley
Here's a shot of Sage, Sadie, Chloe with two of their cousins, and the horse Angel! The girl's are going riding Monday!

Road trip with kids

The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul. The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
Psalms 121: 7-8

Hello the kids and I are going to Bishop for a week! Leaving in a while, we are meeting my big brother there, we are going to try to fix my parents pool. The kids love Bishop and can't wait to see our friends, cousins, my parents are in Washington working on their vacation house. It's a bummer they wont be there! We all are missing them a lot!
Here is a shot of their home in Washington, it's sooo beautiful.
My hard working dad built the home with the help of my uncle, cousins, and momma!
Have a blessed day I'm off to Bishop! Shirley

Beach day

You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives. Gen. 15:20

The kids and I went to the beach yesterday, we had soo much fun, it was one of the nicest beach days we've had in awhile!! The weather was perfect, the waves were awesome. After about an hour our friends showed up, making it even better! Little John surfed, while Sage and the girls swam, played. I of course gathered some driftwood. Sage and I watched Blue Crush a few nights ago, so we were extra pumped about the whole surf seen!! She asked for corn rows in the morning, so I obliged.
I guess this is Chloe's new nap place, she slept for an hour and a half.

Poor baby is addicted to my IPhone, she's our computer genius!! At 2!
Little John came in after awhile and asked Sage if she wanted to learn how to surf, so out they went. She was doing great, learning how to paddle into waves, but she didn't get "up" on the board. I was ready to go, so I signaled to them it was time to go. I was busy talking to my friend when she jumped up and started screaming??? I looked and Sage was riding the perfectest wave!! She rode it in, and gave us a thumbs up!! When little John swam in they hugged, I almost lost it, my two babies accomplishing something special together!!

 After her great ride!

Them reliving the moment!!

I  have a client who is buying my latest Driftwood Chandelier, you heard me right, I stayed up till 3, and knocked another one out!!! It was insane, I could barley sleep so I hopped up at 5 and finished just a few minutes ago, total time start to finish 10 hours!!!!!! I should be charging thousands!!! My fingers are so raw, I'm going to get a massage and pedicure later, I totally deserve it, I'm sooo done, feels almost sick with lack of sleep. oh well my God is able to restore me!!

Running, selling, out of gas!

Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning. —Psalm 30:5

Our run went well we did 5 instead of 7! My baby is soo strong, I kept asking him are you OK?? He'd say yes are you? His pace is faster than mine, so I had to keep up with him! I can't tell you how weird it is to have your baby, taller, stronger, smarter (in certain areas) than you!! It happened sooo fast! He also looks down at me and says mom your soo short! And he gets mad when I wear heels.

Yesterday afternoon John and I went to Montecito, to a cute shop called Lily, on Coast Village Rd. We sold our driftwood chandelier!! She hangs right over the cash register... Perfect fit, I was a little sad to see her go, but that's the point! So on to the next one......
On the way back John and I were talking, laughing, having a great time when on the 101 in rush hour traffic, we felt our car stall, John quickly took the nearest off ramp, he pulled up on to the shoulder, just in time, the car quit! We ran out of gas!!!! While in Montecito, we were planning on getting gas, but we both totally spaced it! Thank God for Triple A, they showed up an hour later, gave us enough gas to get to the gas station. Poor Sage she missed her horse back riding lesson, all day she had been waiting for 6 o'clock to roll around, in her jeans, cowgirl boots, hair braided just so! She was bummed! But life happens. Daddy took them all for ice cream to "make-up" for our tardiness. I had two clients so had to stay behind. Today seems like it's going to be a scorcher!! To the beach we shall go!!! Talk soon, Shirley

Sages bed

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. Colossians 3:23

One of my favorite scriptures! I diligently try to get this one across to our kids. Whatever you do, do it with all your heart!! Unloading the dishwasher, cleaning your room, playing with your sisters, etc..... Nothing turns out good when you only try a little bit!
John completed Sages bed!! He has set his bar really high now! We all know what he's capable of..

1. John measured the mattress, then off of those measurements he knew what cuts we would need.
 2. We did four steps to achieve the old aged barn wood look we were after. First John beat the wood with a chain, saw, sand paper. Then Walnut wood stain, next grey stain, finally an ebony wax to finish.
 3. Getting the structure secure
 4. The first boards went on
 5. Then the final row
 6. John fabricated the hardware, we couldn't find anything to fit perfectly, so he bent the metal, and drilled two holes into it.
 7. I spray painted all the brackets, bolts, and washers
 8. Big daddy put them on
Our sweet friends came over to help get the beast into Sage's room
So stayed tuned the bedding will be next!! Have a blessed day, I'm off Little John and his old mommy are going to run 7 miles today!! Hope he can keep up, JK, Shirley
