The story of the horses!

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Flipping through a House Beautiful Magazine, while sipping tea I came across this picture of Roberto Dutesco's Wild Horses of Sable Island series. I tore out the page and put it in my scrap book right away! Hoping that one day I could own a gorgeous piece like that!
That was a few years ago! I finally got the courage to call his New York studio, to inquired about the photo. The receptionist knew right away which one, she said,"the title of the photo is Love." Perfect title since I've been so in "Love" with the photo for such a long time! I cut to the chase, how much for a copy that size???? Answer took my breath away, $75,000!!!! Bummer a little out of my price range! I called my momma right away telling her my dream had just been crushed! My mom is truly one of the most peaceful, loving women I know, she said,"don't worry honey, I have a present in mind for you."
For Christmas break, I wanted to surprise my parents by bringing the kids a day early to Bishop
This is what I seen on my moms art easel,
The original photo by Roberto Dutesco
I was beyond thrilled, I called my mom who was in Reno, Nv. I said, "Guess what I'm looking at right now?" She is truly amazing her talent is beyond!! Love you mommy I love my horsy's sooooo much, this is a gift I'll cherish all my days, then pass to my children.
The picture inspired me to paint the room gallery white in order to show it off!

  1. I've been meaning to comment on this post for the longest time. You have such a loving and talented mum - her painting is absolutely gorgeous. I'm so happy she was able to make your dream come true. The original photo is beautiful, but $75k is a huge amount of $$$. I think your mums version is worth way more than that :)

  2. Wow!!! How fortunate are you to have such a generous and thoughtful mother?! Do the nestled horses represent you and your hubby?

  3. Are you kidding? Your mom made that? Painted it? Amazing. Love your home. Totally randomly came across your cute blog while searching for a quick pic of a certain shelf. Haha. Beautiful home and family!

  4. I came across this blog while searching for how to make driftwood trees, but I have to tell you that your home is exactly what I love. I love the colors of driftwood, whites, taupes, silvers and of course the browns of horses. I believe horses are just art. They are so lovely to look at and I can well understand how your Mother could paint them.
And I know you know this, but cherish, cherish, CHERISH your Mother and tell her so every single day.

    Love in Christ!
